Privacy Policy

Effective: June 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how FreeWeight ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the FreeWeight mobile app and this website (together, the "Services"). If you have questions, contact us at support@freeweightapp.com.

FreeWeight is built around a simple idea: your personal information stays on your device wherever possible. The sections below explain what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. To build your plan you enter your name, age, height, weight, training goal, lifting experience, available space, and the household items you select as equipment, plus any custom items you add (including a name and weight you set). This is stored on your device.

Waitlist email. If you join the launch waitlist on this website, you give us your email address. We use it only to email you about the app's release, at most a few messages, and never sell it or use it for advertising. It is stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare. You can ask us to remove it at any time at support@freeweightapp.com.

Activity you create. The workouts, sets, and progress you log, used to track your training and adjust your plan. Stored on your device.

Camera images, only when you scan. When you use the scanner, the app takes a photo, reduces its size on your device, and sends it to our scanning provider, Google's Gemini vision API, to identify the object. We do not store these images; they are processed only to return the detection result, are not used to identify you, and are not used to build a profile of you. The key used by our vision provider is held only on our server and is never included in the app.

Purchases. If you subscribe, the purchase is processed by the app store on your device (Apple or Google) under their terms. We receive your subscription status (for example, active or expired) so we can unlock features. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Device and diagnostic information. We may collect limited technical information, such as app version, device type, and crash or error data, to keep the app working and fix problems. This does not identify you.

We do not collect precise location, and we do not knowingly collect more than what is described here.

2. Where your information lives

Most of your information, including your profile, your logged workouts, and your selected equipment, is stored on your device. What leaves your device is limited to: scan images sent for processing, your subscription status through the app store, and any diagnostic data described above.

3. How we use your information

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under state privacy laws. We share information only as described below:

5. Data retention

Information stored on your device remains until you delete it (see Your choices). Scan images are sent to our scanning provider only to return the detection result and are not stored by us. Subscription and diagnostic data are kept as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by law.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including keeping personal data on your device and keeping provider keys on our servers rather than in the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

8. United States state privacy rights

Depending on your state (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and port your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing and of targeted advertising. FreeWeight does not sell or share your personal information and does not use it for targeted advertising. To exercise your rights, email support@freeweightapp.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them, and where the law allows an authorized agent to act for you, we may verify the agent and your identity.

9. Consumer health data

Some state laws (for example, Washington's My Health My Data Act) treat information such as body measurements and fitness activity as consumer health data. We collect this kind of information only to provide the Services to you, store it on your device wherever possible, and do not sell it or use it for advertising. You can delete it at any time as described above.

10. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland

Where this law applies, our legal bases for processing are: performing our agreement with you (to provide the Services), your consent (for example, to use the camera), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services), and compliance with legal obligations. You have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards.

11. Children

FreeWeight is for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app or by other means. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
